Why FNLY?

At FNLY we focus on building the right solution for you. We don’t have a set methodology, instead we talk to you, understand what you might need and start actioning it all with the aim of giving you the right output to run your business. Only one thing makes us truly different and that’s our people. We’re proactive, solution orientated and the kind of finance people you want to talk to!

How long have you been doing this?

Richard launched Birchland Advisors in May 2017 and rebranded to FNLY in April 25. The changed marked a move away from a business centred on one person to acknowledge that the business had become so much more than that. The ethos and values remain the same though. Here’s what we talk about internally;

We don’t have any ingrained steps to success or grand processes to exit. We’re focused on building solid foundations, so we talk, we meet, we ask questions and we action.
Working with us usually leads to change management over systems, processes and/or personnel.

We are action orientated; we don’t produce reports for reports sake.
We then use market leading software to ensure simplicity and efficiency.
Once foundations are in place, we ensure the right team is in place (which will often include our outsourced resource) to support the board on strategy, direction and execution.

How often do we see you and how do you work?

We’re always on. Working on certain days for clients doesn’t work, it’s why we don’t price by time but as a fixed retainer. We have rules of engagement internally that might answer the question;

Rules of Engagement

When you’re working, keep your emails and comms tools open at all times.
Always reply to the client, as soon as you can - even if it’s to say you’ve got the email and you’ll get back to them. Let the client know you’re there and you’ve heard them.
Chat to your client regularly - both the team and the business owner. You’re there to support them all.
Ask for help - no one knows everything.

Don’t create long plans and reports for the client - be action orientated. Show the client what you’ve done and keep explaining the journey they’re on.
Innovate and change. Look for continual improvement and drop the ego. Doesn’t matter where the idea comes from.

Who do I get?

That depends on what you need. In the initial few conversations, we’ll work that out and put the best resource behind it. Whoever works on an assignment though discusses their work twice a week, so the whole team is across every client and we can pull in additional skills if needed.

What’s the pricing?

Again, depending on what’s needed - one to discuss.
